Dear Professor Srodawa:

I have not been active in the field of programming languages for some years,
and therefore, I am not familiar with Professor Culik's current work.  In
particular, I have seen nothing that he has done since he came to the United
States.

On the basis of previous contact with Professor Culik, however, I can say
that he is enthusiastic, cooperative, and should be a real pleasure to have
as a colleague in a computer science department.
